New Life

This is not Joseph Smith as my Mom kept calling him but tis my liege lord and husband Sir Robert Charles. He was gracious enough to take me to a Regency Romance Ball put on by a really cool club in Salt Lake City. It was an adventure.
This is me at around 10 months. I am sitting by my Juju (my Dad's Mother) in a park in Elk Grove CA.

This is my Wonderful Husband who likes me for me.

It has been forever since I last posted. I am not even going to apologize because I have no excuse and I am sure it will happen again! ok ok I am sorry. My guilt complex is very well developed- Thanks, Mom!

I really do wish to be a cool blogger but I have ended up just doing picture dumps and while I think my children are the most beautiful and wonderful things ever(as every mother should) I also have thoughts that don't revolve around them... ummm...I think.

I have done so much since last November I don't even know where to begin. Hmmm I started College again, we moved (again)... so maybe I haven't done as much as I was thinking but just these two things sure feel like a lot! What I have learned so far is that I really hate moving and Math!!

I do still need to add pictures so that if every memory card or file blows up I will have some things saved on here.

The first one of Michaela and the one of Leo in the stroller are two of my favorite pictures ever.

We have had a fairly crazy year in a very crazy run of years but Leo is 1 now!!! And I will be posting pictures of that later today.

Broken Camera

My Camera is broken! As if I didn't have enough excuses not to keep current on my blog! Leo's life is not going to be documented!

I went to the camera store but they were like nope we can't help you but here's the name of the guy who we send our cameras to. Then the girl told me that the problem looks like it will cost about 100$ to fix.

So if anyone knows about cameras mine is a fuji and when I turn it on it says "zoom error" and I have tried resetting everything and it still says it.... so sad.

During March Michaela and I were very busy but we still made time for dress up and modeling!

This is a slice of pizza Michaela half ate. At first when I saw that she hadn't finished her lunch I was like "Michaela, get back here and eat your lunch!" but then I looked at it and saw that she had eaten it into the shape of a heart! I thought it was genius.

A few weeks ago I took two big quilts to the laundromat and had to cut short the drying time so that I could get Rob to work on time. When I got them home I decided I wanted to dry them out in the beautiful sunshine we were having that day.
I took four chairs out in the front yard and then draped the quilts over them and stood back to look at my handiwork and realized... I had made a fort! Michaela,Leo and I along with Corinne spent about three hours in that thing and it was so much fun. I think I felt 20 years younger :)

This first picture is of Leo with my cousin Matthew who just got home from a mission to Argentina. Leo just sat next to him and stared up at him for a few minutes then gave him his best smile. I think Leo is already planning on his mission because all the recently returned that he has met he has been very impressed with. Matthew is super sweet though so that could also be the reason that Leo liked him so much.

This first Picture is of all my parents grandkids. Leo is totally hamming it up. He is such a happy, friendly baby.
The morning of Memorial Day we stopped at Papa's grave. His cemetery is so beautiful and peaceful.... Except when school is in session (an elementary is on the west side of it).
These Roses are growing next to Juju's house. I was caught by the way the morning light was passing through the petals of the white and pink rose and then the red orange ones are just so beautiful that I had to take pictures. Juju is my Dad's Mom and she is so sweet. I think she misses having us as little kids. We were the family that always came to visit (not that my other cousins didn't visit we just out numbered them all in one family :). I really miss Papa. Its been 7 years since he died and I really think he had so much more to tell us about life and all the cool things he did and knew. He was a good teacher- he taught us about weapons like the boomerang and the Atl Atl as well as the bow and the sling shot.

Memorial Day

Isn't Leo so handsome? He is growing like a weed and I can put him down and he sits by himself very well. His doctor says he "is as solid as a rock". He has been sick a lot this past month but he is better now... Almost.
On memorial day I was in California and we were able to go to Papa's grave. This is a picture of the tree that shades him. It was a beautiful day and I like to think it was for Papa who was a wonderful person.
This is a Four Generation picture with Juju! I am so glad my mom had that idea. While I was out in Cali I did not get one picture of Leo with Grammy (which I regret very much) but at least Juju got some.

This is Leo and Michaela playing together! Michaela is so cute with him and really loves him. I think he loves her too because he looks around for her when she is not right in front of him. That may or may not be love- it may just be Leo protecting himself from sneak attacks. He is really smart like that.

Look at Leo's face!! I had just wrapped him up in this swaddler thing and he just looked like a little caterpillar and he was happy as a clam.

This is our much commented on Christmas tree! We put candy canes and a star on it and Michaela loves it... so has Quiggley who has eaten a few of them.

This is an adorable outfit that Aunt Tanya and family sent us. Today was Leo and mines first time to church and this is what he wore while we sat up on the stand because coincidentally it was my first time back and I was asked to speak... I just gave birth 4 weeks ago! I thought that gave me immunity or something... just kidding it wasn't that horrible.

This was Michaela's Pinkalicious 3rd Birthday Party!!! Michaela was so cute about having a pinkalicious party just like her cousin Ellie. Aunt Carrilyne made the MOST delicious pink cupcakes ever!! Something about Carrilyne is just too perfect that I should be jealous but no one can be with Carrilyne she is just that good. Thanks Carrilyne for saving her birthday!

Michaela is a very good big sister. She hasn't been too jealous and has been very gentle with him...so far. wish us luck that she stays this way.

OK I am a strange picture taker!!! I pick up the camera and just take a million pictures hoping that one will turn out well but I should already know that my babies are very photogenic so I don't need to take so many of one single event but since I have all these adorable pictures I have to share them. Even though you might think they are all the same, they are slightly different! He was just starring at me as I was flashing him in the face with the light. Leo is such a cute baby!

This is LEO CHRISTOPHER MALCOLM!! He was born November 17th at 3:01pm. Leo was 10 lbs and 21 inches long and he has been such a great baby to cuddle and love... of course probably every baby is.

The top picture is of me and my best friend Risa at her baby shower. She is only 10 days from her due date!!! Not much longer Ri!!! You can do it. LOL well I didn't win any games at her shower but her sister's Jennie and Debbie, gave me a pity gift. (really cute dish towels). I was out in California just for Risa actually. She and her husband Chris got Sealed on the 21st of August!! Yay for the Riley's!!!
The pic of Michaela is at Grammy's house and it turned out weird but she is so cute playing with Momo's glasses I threw it in. She was a great little traveller.
This is a family portrait... Carrilyne says we need professional help!!! we are a difficult family to photograph. My smile is way too big but this photo is the best out of like 70 pictures.
This is my "temporary replacement ring" because my fingers swell randomly. I remember with Michaela my fingers got smaller at the end like my size 5 1/2 ring was close to coming off and now I am only 28 weeks and I have to put on my "fat" ring... hehe like "fat pants" get it? Ok now I am just being goofy... Well Happy Birthday to me!

I can't even remember how long ago we went to Grandma and Papa's house to see Grandma Anne and Aunt Vicki and I was planning on blogging about that first because it was so great to be able to spend time with both of those awesome ladies! But you know how my life moves... it kinda jumps around.
Anyway it was fun even though we were only able to spend one day it was wonderful to chat about all kinds of things with them. They told Rob and I about what Gramps did for a living and what he did for fun.
What I thought was a funny coincidence that Aunt Vicki said that as long as she can remember Gramps talked about retiring and Rob does that too!!! At not quite 26!!! Lol. Family is great.
I am so glad Michaela got to talk to Grandma Anne and show off for her. I got cute pictures and now we will be able to pull out those pics and we can talk about how sweet, ladylike and pretty Grandma Anne is.
Rob was so happy to see them and he just talked with them and asked tons of questions and we could have talked a lot longer I think. Rob is also the one who took the picture of the beautiful flowers in front of his parents. Their yard is gorgeous.

Camping part 3

Carrilyne came up in the morning with the kids and we had a little party in the van when it rained. We also went on two or three little hikes but I forgot my camera every time!!! Look at Milo's grin! He is so adorable! Michaela thinks that I am having a boy "like Milo" that I am going to be bringing Milo home from the hospital instead of a baby "brudder" of our own. Its so funny because I will tell her that Our baby will be our own and even though he is a boy "like Milo" he isn't going to BE Milo. Oh well she will figure it out I guess... lol

Last weekend my parents took Aubree camping and if you know me... I couldn't resist tagging along. Hope campground is up by Squaw Peak, and its only about 15 minutes away but it feels like wilderness and it was the perfect temperature the whole time we were up there. I packed everything I could possibly want except for an air mattress!!! I tell you I was crying at about 11pm "I want to go home....! I want to go home!" and then Michaela chimed in "lets go home!!!". Luckily Rob would not give in even though he wasn't comfy either. I am so glad he did even though I am just barely recovering from the aches and pains incurred by the rocks and roots we slept on.
It was beautiful and was actually sort of renewing to the soul. It just makes me realize I am not the hardcore camper I would like to be :). I told Rob that I will dig my own toilet and carry a fifty pound backpack but I will have to have an air mattress or a really thick pad from now on to sleep on.
Michaela was so excited to go camping. She was running around the house signing about going camping. I was telling her how much fun camping is and she would tell everyone that "camping is great" and that she was a camper.

These are pictures of a hike we took in early June as a family. We only made it like a mile and a half up Rock Canyon but I fell in love with it! It was the perfect time to do that hike and everything was green and the water was rushing and all the other hikers were friendly... so beautiful!!!

The bottom pic is Michaela at Uncle Bryan and Aunt Shannon's house ruining their baby doll crib. this is just about the first thing she did as soon as we got there. She and Owen had a blast running around and playing. It was fun staying on base with Bryan and his fam. And since Rob had ditched me at the last minute I felt much safer staying with them than anywhere else. Thanks guys, especially for the Leatherby's run.
Aren't the temple pics gorgeous too?! I can't take full credit for those except they were taken on my camera. Aubree actually took most of them during the Sealing while she and Mic were waiting outside the Temple. Good photography Aubs!

Trip to Las Vegas- Bryan's Wedding

This is the main reason we ( Aubree, Michaela and I) went to Las Vegas this March. Bryan Got married!! I would say Finally!! but I think that he found a really great girl, Morgan, who seems to fit him perfectly and I like her so I am glad he took the time to find her.
The Sealing was beautiful and and the day was gorgeous. Just perfect. The reception was decorated wonderfully too. LOL have I used enough superlatives? I loved it all and I had a great time too. Congrats Bryan and Morgan.

It's a BOY!!! Rob has been right all along and we are both very excited. Michaela wants to name him Charlie and Rob wants Leo and no one cares about what I want ;). I think the mom should have the biggest say but what can I do? hehe I will work my wiles and see where it gets me.
The due date is still November 22nd and he is growing just right. Heart and brain and other organs all doing what they are supposed to do thank heavens!
Any boy advice will be appreciated. I am much more nervous of having a boy not being one myself. Michaela seems like a mini me so I generally know how to handle her but boys are a new can of worms. Rob says not to be scared, that he will be here to help.
I will try to get pictures up asap but my sd card is on the fritz, so be patient.

Irish Weekend

This weekend was a very awesomely Irish weekend! On Saturday Rob, Michaela and I went to SLC and met up with a large chunk of our Malcolm family to see Kelsey and Ashlin dance at an Irish Festival at the Hellenic Cultural Center. They did so great and it is really fun watching them. After they danced we all drove up to Logan to have the Malcolms famous Corned Beef and Cabbage which Rob raves about anytime corned beef comes up. Rob's mom, Kerry, is a really great cook so its understandable.

This is Gunnar driving home! Michaela and I were cracking up. "I was screaming Gunnar watch the road!" and Mic was falling apart laughing. It was one of those moments... you just had to be there. lol

I think she did give him a taste but then she was like wait don't drink all my milk!! Ellie was really strong to hold Mic cause they are the same weight.

Today was a beautiful pre-spring day!!! Michaela and I went out in the front yard and she chalked up the sidewalk and then started catching leaves as they drifted on the little gusts of wind. She tried to gather them up in a pile but they kept blowing away and she would chase after them. The first picture of Michaela is her saying Oh No! as her leaves started floating away. We are very ready for warm weather! Life is getting very difficult being cooped up inside all the time.... who votes for an early summer?! I DO!!!

Refresher Course

Before I put up Michaela's most recent and birthday photos I wanted to refresh everyone's memories on how absolutely ADORABLE she has been since birth. Its not like I have ever thought she was not cute but sometimes I look back at pictures and I am actually shocked at how little and precious she was! Literally shocked...is that weird for a mother? I think we forget how beautiful something is if we don't take time to refresh our outlook.
This is Michaela when she was about 7 months old. Look at how blue her eyes were then!
This is Michaela at 9 months with Indiana, Libby, Ellie and Leilany. Her hair was really filling in then.
And this is Michaela at 1 year she was dancing to Rob playing that Wii guitar game. as you might notice she is sort of picking her nose but in her defense she is only copying her father.

Hi again! its been too long. Lots has happened too! Most importantly Michaela's 2nd Birthday (of which I will be posting pictures soon). We had a blast but it was kinda spread out over the course of a week because we celebrated it according to quite a few different work schedules. next year I will be planning her party starting in October and i will be much more prepared for it.
We have also been testing the potty training waters so to speak... Mic is interested but I am just not up to taking her to the bathroom every 15 mins just yet. I guess its me who needs to be "trained".
Grammy and Gramps came to visit and Gramps ended up spending just under a week in the hospital but the time that they were here Michaela was following Grammy around shouting "Grumma, Grumma, Grumma!" it was really sweet.
Thanksgiving was great. Somehow Carrilyne got us invited to the Jynes house for dinner and it was totally Fantastic! No kidding I love my family's food too but the Jaynes had really, really yummy scrumptious food. I especially loved their yams, they were perfect. Thank you Jaynes for letting us come!!
My camera's been out of commission lately but I will be putting new batteries in soon and then I will try to be as good at taking cute and artsy pictures as Carrilyne, Just you wait and see. though knowing me it will be a long wait...just kidding I hope :).

Ward Halloween Party

Last night was the ward Halloween party and it was so much fun! Rob was able to come which was wonderful and his costume was really cool!
We took Michaela around to the little kids games and she "won" a few prizes. She really loved the cake walk because she totally understands the walking around in a circle concept. This is her with her cupcake. Cute, Huh?

Carrilyne brought some costumes over and we picked this one because it totally went with Ellie's Princess Barbie costume. Michaela was Ellie's Pegasus!

Family Walks

These are some pics from the walks Rob takes me and Mic on. This particular walk was to the park by the high school which is totally fun and we saw a dog that was really cute and Michaela was really excited by it.

The flower pics are taken by Rob while we were having fun trying to get Michaela to say flower. We have been taking some really long walks lately especially at night and it has been so romantic ;).

I have seen the future and it is scary!! Or maybe hilarious is the better word. Ellie spent a Sunday afternoon over at my mom's house with Michaela and I and let me say it was crazy.

Just look at my daughter's face, you can see the glee that her naughtiness has given her. Ellie said " I didn't do it, Taeya did it!". She might as well have said the devil made me do it with the expression on Michaela's face... she does look slightly possessed.

But back to my vision of the future. I can see Ellie and Michaela getting into all kinds of trouble and giving Rob small heart attacks daily. The hijinks's these girls will instigate have yet to be thought of but my guess is that Michaela will have plenty of Ideas and Ellie will be her willing accomplice.
I repeat just look at their faces. :) This is gonna be fun!

Apples, Apples

Hi Everybody! Michaela is almost 2 now and has been going to nursery for a few months now. She is loving it of course because her Momo (Grandma) is the nursery leader and Momo is the best nursery leader ever. Mic loves singing and reading and just about everything she does in nursery (but if I had to take a guess I would say snack time is her favorite... just like her mom).
Michaela is learning so much at church and just in our everyday life and I want to teach her how to be happy. Sharing, having friends, being gentle with Milo and Tallulah (the new babies in our family) are all things we are working on now. She is just so fascinated by all of it (ok sharing is not so interesting but like I said we are trying).
So all these happy and good things we try to teach our children right? So why do we teach them songs and nursery rhymes that have really depressing meanings?
I was thinking particularly of "Ring around the rosies". I mean seriously?! a song about death and the plague and stinky bodies? Who needs that? I was talking to Rob about my Idea to change the Ashes, ashes to Apples, apples and he started going off on how I would be trying to change history if I did that and how I would be like Hitler because he tried to change history too by burning lots of books ( I would like everyone to know that I am NOT like Hitler and I do not want any books burned). Rob then asked me what the heck apples had to do with posies. I think that flowers and apples go really good together they are just another example of good things and as a matter of fact they should go together. ( I am typing on my brothers lap top and I can't get off Italics so bear with me). Just think apples eventually fall off the tree right? Apples apples we all fall down. I think it works. so if any one agrees with me on this issue just start singing it my way and we can make the world a happier place. Carrilyne you are probably the only one reading this so join me in my quest to change this ashes ashes tradition into a happy one.
(I just have to add that while Mic has been waiting for me to finish all of this she has been licking the window sill, screaming at the neighbor across the street to stop weed whacking and trying to cover this little tiny spot of light that is now hitting the floor in front of her with a spatula. These are the moments that make me laugh and remind me why I haven't gone crazy yet.)

This is Carrilyne, Chelsea's awesome big sister. I have forced her to start a blog. I, myself, am addicted to blogging. I love reading my friends blogs and I have a lot of fun doing my own blog. I kinda use mine like a family journal. I actually save all my posts on word documents so I can print them out and keep them in a scrapbook. That helps me when I blog. I just blog about stuff that I want to remember and that the kids will enjoy reading when they grow up. If it happens to be interesting to other people then awesome!
